The 2012 TT Series starts on Thursday 3rd May at Market Lane Somerleyton.

Time Trials are the simplest and purest form of competition and the easiest way to get started. A time trial is held over a fixed distance (usually 10 or 25 miles) and riders start at one minute intervals. You complete the course alone riding as fast and hard as you can. It is as much a test of mind over matter as fitness and learning how to pace your effort is the key.

Our own TT series runs Thursday evenings and is an excellent way to get started. You can decide on the day whether to ride, just turn-up, sign-on and pay a small entry fee (£3) and you are ready for action – well a warm-up actually! There are no changing facilities, refreshments etc and most riders cycle to the start or park on the verge. You will be allocated a number and start time (usually within 30 mins of signing on). Our time keeper will inform you when its time to start and a “pusher off” will hold you up when the timekeeper gives you your personal 30 seconds warning. After the dramatic 5-4-3-2-1 its time to let rip and test yourself against yourself and the course. TTs are a great way to test your fitness, development and train. The timekeepers watch never lies…

Most clubs run a series of summer evenning TTs on their local 10 mile TT course. The GYCC summer TT Series runs every Thursday night at Somerleyton (approx 1 mile down Market Lane towards Ashby) – See Events calendar entries for map and start times etc.
